Skin blemishes can be unsightly and confidence sapping, but luckily there are treatments for warts that are effective and can put a spring in your step as you lose your beauty worries. There is no cure-all device out there and depending on the size and location of your wart you may need a specific technique to remove it effectively. Many people put off the treatment for financial reasons or over fears that the removal will cause pain or discomfort, but this does not have to be the case as there are several methods you can use at home to treat warts.
The cheapest and simplest method is to cover your wart with duct tape. To avoid looking like you’ve had a mishap in the garage, simply cover this with a band aid. This method “known as tape occlusion” works by suffocating the wart and after two weeks to two months it comes away from the skin naturally. Despite its seemingly obvious mechanics, this trick has worked for many a wart wearer.
If the tape method does not work for you, the next thing to try is salicylic acid. This product is also cheap and despite its name it is also very safe. The acid works by softening the skin around the wart which means the blemish can be rubbed off by hand. The effect on the skin also means that your body’s natural defence system begins to attack the wart. Salicylic acid comes in the form of creams, paints and plaster patches and can be bought from most pharmacists. This treatment tends to take between two and three months.
The third technique, one that doesn’t require nearly so much patience, that you can try at home is non-prescription cryotherapy. This method, which is commonly used for verrucas and other warts on the feet, works by freezing the gibbosity and surrounding skill. You may feel a little discomfort and notice the a little of the skin turns white this is because the freezing process is effectively killing the skin and wart so it falls away from the body. The skin will regrow naturally.
Finding a treatment for warts that is effective, cheap and safe is no major concern. Even if you can’t make your way to see a doctor or go to the pharmacist, you may have items lying in your home or garage that can do the trick painlessly.
